2007 Recap

I thought I would catch everyone up on our lives and give a quick recap of 2007... we had a crazy year! In March, we found out that Brett matched with UT in OB/GYN. This means 4 more years in Memphis, and we're excited about it. It was a relief in a lot of ways, because we love our church, friends, neighborhood, and my job here. It's also nice to be close to family with Brett's in Memphis and mine in Nashville. In May, Brett finally graduated from medical school. Yay!!

Before Brett started his residency, we wanted to take a trip to Europe. We decided to go to Switzerland and Italy for 2 weeks, and we had an amazing time! We went to Luzern, Interlaken, Murren, Cinque Terre, Florence, and several Tuscan hilltowns (Lucca, Pisa, Siena, Montepulciano, and Montalcino). This almost needs to be a separate posting, but here's a few pics from our trip.

Since we love our neighborhood, but wanted a little bigger home, we decided to sell our house and buy another "fixer upper" in the same neighborhood- High Point Terrace. Our house actually sold while we were in Europe, so we came home to an interesting situation- needing to vacate our old home quickly when our new home was about to undergo massive renovation. This is where in-laws come in handy. :) We moved in with Brett's parents for 3 months in the summer during our renovation. We ended up expanding the den and kitchen and building a master bath, 1/2 bath, office, and porch. The rest of the home was updated as well. We absolutely love our home now, but we're so glad the renovation is OVER! I didn't do a good job of taking pictures for this renovation, but here's a few, including a construction pic of Brett's new pride and joy- his massive new garage/workshop/manroom. I will put updated house pics in another posting soon.

The fall/winter of 2007 was spent settling into our new home and both adjusting to our new jobs. Brett works many long, hard hours, but overall, enjoys it. I'm still loving clinical research, but still haven't quite figured out the management role yet. Around Thanksgiving time, we found out that we were pregnant and were absolutely thrilled. We were able to keep it a secret until Christmas time, when we told our families and friends. We are due July 26th.

After reflecting on this past year, I feel so humbled to see how much the Lord has blessed us in 2007. He is so faithful and good to us!

This just made my week! YES! And, I'm gonna need some more information on this amazing trip. I can't believe we didn't talk about it over breakfast. I guess it's b/c you had more important breaking news, or maybe I just talked the entire time!
